Horticulture Skills Camp

About the course

Introduction

The Horticulture Skills Camp is made up of a group of courses that cover key knowledge, skills and qualifications to allow access to the Horticulture, Sports Turf and Greenspace industries at entry level.

What are the entry requirements?

Applicants must be:

*19+ and a UK resident or have lived and worked in England for the past 3 years / have legal refugee status. .

* In receipt of specific benefits - ESA, JSA or Universal Credit

* Have functional english skills

* Keen to work in the Horticulture, Sports Turf or releated Greenspace Industries.

* Able to attend the College's Bilsborrow Campus

How long is the course?

Each individual course element has a specific time allocation.

What will the course involve

A core content of the skills camp is:

* City and Guilds Level One Certificate Practical Horticulture Skills

*City and Guilds Level One Certificate Employability Skills

On sucessful achievement of the core qualifucations students can follow one or both pathways. Each qualification must be achieved before the student can move onto the next level.

Pathway One

* City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate of Competence in the Safe Use of Pedestrian Mowers

* City & Guilds Level 2 Principles of Safe Handling and Application of Pesticides (PA1)

* City & Guilds Level 2 Award in the Safe Application of Pesticides using Pedestrian Hand Held Equipment (Pa6a)

Pathway Two

* City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate of Competence in the Safe Use of All-terrain Vehicles (ATVs)

* City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate of Competence in Horticulture Tractor Driving and Related Operations

* City & Guilds Level 2 Award in the Safe Application of Pesticides Using Self Propelled, Mounted, Trailed Horizontal Boom Sprayers (PA2)
