Thousands enjoy Myerscough’s Open Farm Sunday
Published: Monday 8 June 2026Thousands of people flocked to Myerscough College’s Lodge Farm over the weekend to enjoy Open Farm Sunday.
The event offered a unique opportunity for visitors to find out about the workings of the College’s commercial agriculture operations.
It was great to see Lodge Farm so busy and be able to showcase just a taste of what goes on on a working farm.

Visitors enjoyed a range of attractions including animal displays, agricultural machinery, external trade stands, children's activities, a Hereford cow show, sheep shearing, a Countryside Trail, watching the robotic LELY cow milking machines, sheepdog demonstrations, the use of drone technology in farming, and much more.
This year, the national LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming) Open Farm Sunday initiative celebrated its 20th anniversary with a focus on encouraging more farmers to open their gates, tell their unique stories and put farming centre stage.

Andrea Gardner, Myerscough’s Director of Farm Operations and Innovations, said: ‘’A massive thank you to everyone for a magnificent event.
‘’Our staff worked so hard to ensure the event went ahead smoothly, and the crowds came and had a fantastic day.''

‘’Our staff and students were fantastic ambassadors for the College and it was great to see our farm being showcased to such a high standard.''
‘’The day was an outstanding celebration of everything Myerscough agriculture and all that is best within the sector. We hope everyone had a fabulous time.’’
