Inclusive Learning (Learning Support)
Learning Support at Myerscough College, known as Inclusive Learning, is designed to help you maximise your potential, support your progression to the next stage of your career, and empower your future.
Our support enables you to access all the opportunities available and helps you enjoy your learning experience at Myerscough College. Whatever learning difficulty or disability you may have, we can provide support or work with external agencies to ensure you receive the help you need.
We work closely with teaching staff, other college services, and external organisations to deliver a person-centred approach. The support we offer is reviewed throughout your time with us and aims, wherever possible, to help you develop independence.
As an organisation, we are part of the Local Offer across the region. Therefore, whether you attend our centres in Preston, Liverpool, Manchester, or Warrington, we will aim to meet your learning and support needs in accordance with the Local Offer. Link here.
Initial Assessment
Once you have declared a learning need and/or disability on your application form, the Inclusive Learning team will contact you to discuss your support requirements.
You will have the opportunity to meet with one of our Inclusive Learning Co-ordinators, who will talk through your needs and explore the best ways to support you during your time at college. The College will also liaise with your local authority and follow their consultation process.

Transition to Myerscough College
The Inclusive Learning team will help you with your transition to us, ready for the start of your course. If you are considering applying to study at Myerscough College you can choose to invite our Transitions team to your Year 11 Review at school. They will be able to explain what courses are offered at Myerscough and how you will be supported before you start and during your time at College.
You can come and speak to us during the College’s Open Days, we will be able to tell you about the support we offer. Once you have applied to a course, Inclusive Learning will be able to offer tours of the areas you are interested in, across our campuses. After your interview, the department may offer taster days to give you an idea of what the course will be like.

If you have an EHCP – Annual Reviews
Each year while you are at college, you will have an annual review of your Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). This meeting will take place either in college or, more commonly, remotely.
Your review will usually include you, your family or advocate, college staff, and other relevant professionals. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss your progress, your medium- and long-term goals, what is going well, any areas where you may need additional support, and your aspirations for the future.
We will also review your EHCP to identify anything that may need updating. The meeting typically lasts around one hour.
