Junior Tractor Driving

About the course

This course is designed to offer advice to the 13 to 16 year old tractor operator, on how to safely operate the modern agricultural tractor and related machinery. Once the basic safety issues have been covered it is designed to be very practical and hands on, with plenty of opportunity to drive the machines with and without machinery attached.

All areas of the tractor are covered which include:

· Trailers

· Three point linkage

· PTO (restricted operation covered due to HSE guidelines).

· Basic use of the fore end loader.

The training is carried out between the College's Engineering Unit and the purpose built machine operation area on the campus. Although it is not an assessment based course a certificate of attendance is given to all trainees up on completion which will satisfy HSE training requirements.

Additional Information

Candidates are required to wear strong footwear, (ideally steel toe protecting) and overalls. Wet weather clothing may also be required.
