The training course, called Hydrate, is designed for sports turf professionals responsible for water management and irrigation within their facilities. It is ideal for grounds managers, greenkeepers, sports turf managers, grounds staff, and supervisors involved in the planning, monitoring, and efficient use of water to maintain high-quality playing surfaces while promoting sustainable practices.

Paul McGrail, Executive Director and Assistant Principal - Apprenticeships, Skills & Employer Engagement, said: ‘’The new ‘Hydrate’ Programme has been developed specifically to address the industry's need for greater knowledge and practical expertise in water management.

‘’The programme represents another example of how Myerscough continues to listen to industry needs and respond with targeted educational solutions that support both individual development and organisational performance.’’

Martin Smart, Turf Business, said: ‘’I'm excited to share that Turf Business has once again partnered with Myerscough College to bring you another Lantra accredited training programme.

‘’The 2025 Turf Business Summit, in Berlin, brought water management to the forefront of the conversation, and from that we have worked hard with the delegates and Myerscough College to bring this exciting new programme to the industry.’’

The training course will be delivered over a six-month period by leading industry experts, in partnership with Turf Business. The two core modules will be delivered face-to-face over a two-day residential with the remaining four modules delivered through a virtual learning platform (Canvas) and Team meetings.

The modules will have scenario based short assignments and assessed through the Canvas platform. On-going ‘checks-on-learning’ will be built into the Canvas site along with other interactive content and key information to support learners.  You will have regular meetings on Teams to go through assignment work etc and access to a tutor for 1:1 support throughout the programme.

The course does not have a specific qualification level and is designed for individuals who already have a basic understanding of water management within their facility although the content is equivalent to Level 4. It is suitable for sports turf professionals looking to develop their knowledge and skills in water use, irrigation, and sustainable resource management.

The overall programme has Lantra accreditation which demonstrates the quality and validity of the training programme. Myerscough College will also award Digital credentials following the completion of the programme.

There are a few remaining places to join the year long programme, if you would like to register your interest in enrolling in the course there's still time, just complete the details on the online form

The cost of the programme is £795+vat which includes one night’s accommodation and meals.
