Myerscough rugby students put coaching skills into practice
Published: Friday 15 May 2026A partnership with the Fylde Rugby Community Foundation has seen Myerscough College rugby students put their coaching skills into practice.
The students, who have recently completed their ERCA (England Rugby Coaching Award) qualification, have been delivering after-school rugby sessions at Garstang Community Academy, as part of their applied coaching module.
This fantastic partnership between Myerscough College, Fylde Rugby Community Foundation, and Garstang Community Academy gives students valuable hands-on coaching experience while helping to inspire and develop young players within the local community.
A brilliant example of education, sport, and community coming together to create opportunities both on and off the pitch.

The aim is to ensure that young players in the Garstang area can keep benefiting from top-quality coaching and playing opportunities.
A major aspect of this is the invaluable experience it provides for Myerscough College Rugby Studies students. As part of their course, students once again gain hands-on coaching experience by leading after-school rugby sessions.
This real-world application of their studies enhances both their learning and the development of the young players they mentor, and teaches discipline, teamwork, and respect.
