Myerscough cricket student earns call up to England U19 squad
Published: Friday 25 September 2026A Myerscough College cricket student has been selected to represent England at the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Nepal and Bangladesh, marking another major milestone in an exciting start to her career.
Talented wicketkeeper Skye Thomas is one of two Lancashire players selected in the England squad, and having made her Lancashire debut earlier in 2026, Skye’s performances at county level have now been rewarded with international recognition.
For Skye, the selection caps a particularly exciting period of progression. Alongside continuing her studies at Myerscough College, she will now have the opportunity to represent England on the world stage while continuing her journey with Lancashire Women, where she has already made a brilliant start.
Her selection is also a fantastic example of combining education with the demands of an emerging elite sporting career, as Skye continues her development both in the classroom at Myerscough and on the cricket field with Lancashire and England.
Preparation for the World Cup will see the England U19 squad take part in a series of training camps in the UK before travelling to India for a five-match T20 series in November and December.
The squad will then remain in India for an additional week of outdoor preparation ahead of the ICC tournament in January and February 2027.
England U19 Women’s head coach Chris Guest described the programme as an important opportunity to prepare the players both for the World Cup and for their longer-term careers in the professional game. England's ambition is to compete for the World Cup while ensuring the players gain valuable experience of the demands and environment of elite cricket.
Everyone at Myerscough College is incredibly proud to see Skye earn this opportunity and looks forward to following her progress as she balances her studies with representing Lancashire and wearing the Three Lions on the international stage.
