The prestigious awards recognise and celebrate the very best that Lancashire has to offer in terms of all aspects of the tourism sector. Myerscough’s Open Day & Country Fair has been shortlisted in the category of Small Event of the Year (up to 15,000 visitors).

2023 was another bumper year for the Myerscough College Open Day & Country Fair, as thousands of people were welcomed to the College’s main Bilsborrow campus to enjoy the excellent weather and the hundreds of attractions on offer, in the first event of its kind held since 2019.

The College's biggest event of the year is now well established as one of the best days out in Lancashire's outdoor events calendar. An action-packed family fun day out, the event includes a large array of demonstrations, shows and interactive activities from the College’s many diverse subject areas as well as food, drink and entertainment. Prospective students also get the chance to see the beautiful campus at its best and chat with tutors and staff from each area.

The Open Day & Country Fair is a major undertaking for Myerscough and involves months of preparation by staff and students as well as working closely with dozens of partners, third party companies and exhibitors from across the county.

Marketing Lancashire, organisers of Lancashire’s county-wide awards for tourism and hospitality businesses, announced another raft of finalists in what have turned out to be three of this year’s most popular categories of the Lancashire Tourism Awards 2023.

The annual awards recognise the success and achievements of Lancashire’s tourism and hospitality businesses in a wide range of categories, with the Small Event, Large Event and Taste Lancashire Producer having had a few extra weeks to complete their applications, in order to deliver a summer of unforgettable and spectacular events.

Vikki Harris, Marketing Lancashire Director of Marketing and Partnerships said “After a successful and busy summer of great days out, food, drink and music festivals, as well as some of the country’s leading creative, making and participatory festivals, we are thrilled to name the finalists in three of this year’s most hotly contested categories.

“The categories of small and large events and Taste Lancashire Producer, had a little extra time to complete their applications, to enable them to compete in this year’s competition.

‘’As a result, we have been rewarded with an impressive list of finalists that truly reflects Lancashire’s wonderfully diverse visitor offer, during the main summer holiday period. They now go forward with all the other finalists to the judging stage of the Lancashire Tourism Awards and we wish them all the very best of luck.”
