About the course
If you use or buy professional rodenticides, changes in the law were implimented from 1st January 2026.
From that date, the Campaign for Responsible Rodenticides Use (CRRU) will require users of rodenticides to show proof of competence when buying these products.
The course lasts 1/2 a day. Students will then attend a one to one assessment with an external NPTC assessor. The full course fees including vat are £325. If you are an employer wishing to pay via invoice please contact shortcourses@myerscough.ac.uk for an employer specific booking link.
This course incorporates theory and practical to enable successful candidates to operate legally when buying and using rodenticides. This course will cover:
Legislation relating to the use of rodenticides to control rats and mice
Product label information
Risks of human and environmental contamination
Emergency procedures
Safe storage and transport
Management and disposal of surplus and waste materials
Record keeping requirements
Site surveys
Application of rodenticide products safely

Entry requirements & additional information
This course requires you to have a a good commend of spoken and written English.
There are no pre-requisite qualifications for this course.
This course is assessed through a one to one assessment with a NPTC assessor which will consist of oral questionning and some skills demonstration.
As this course provides legal competancies, exam board rules do not allow material to be translated intoa different language or the use of a translator or translation apps.
The exam allows very little flexibility in terms of adjustments however if you feel you may qualifiy for an exam adjustment due to a documented need please contact the short course team at shoursecourses@myerscough.ac.uk to discuss.
