Entry requirements & additional information

Learners must have completed the online PA1 element of the course before attending the face to face training. Leaners without evidence they ahve completed the online trainign may be preventing from taking the exam until they can provide evidence of passing the online units. A good level of literacy is required for the training and assessments. Successfully completing and gaining this qualification is a prerequisite to gaining any other pesticide application qualifications Assessments are in the form of a computer based multiple choice question format. A basic operational knowledge of computer use will be required. Please be aware that the online test can be extremely challenging for candidates who have English as a second language. The test uses technical language and whilst candidates can follow the training well, they may struggle to interpret the multiple-choice questions on the formal assessment. Unfortunately, this exam does not allow translators or translation applications as it is felt that this might compromise safety in the workplace when candidates must interpret English pesticide labels. If you have/ are a candidate that may fall into this category, please contact us at shortcourses@myerscough.ac.uk. In certain circumstances students may be eligible for exam access arrangements (EAA) although unfortunately the evidence required by the exam boards can be difficult to provide for adults. If you feel you may qualify for EAA please contact shortcourses@myerscough.ac.uk to receive a copy of the EAA guidance document. Please note that the College is unable to provide support assistants for external candidates. External support may be brought into college following the guidelines in the EAA support document. Please note that you will be expected to provide some form of photographic ID when you attend for the PA1 assessment
The computer-based assessment is held at the end of the training day. If candidates would prefer to book the test at a later date, please contact the College at the time of booking. Later assessments will take place during the next scheduled PA1 training day (see factsheet for dates). Please note that a later assessment may interfere with any PA6a or PA2 assessments if training has also been booked for these.
