About the course

The Pre-Supported Internship course at Myerscough College aims to prepare young people with SEND for future Supported Internships or employment. It focuses on developing key employability, communication and life skills through a personalised, inclusive curriculum, whilst completing Work Experience at a local employer. Learners build confidence, independence, and work-readiness through vocational training, personal development, and real-world experiences. The course promotes resilience, self-awareness, and progress towards adulthood, supported by strong employer and community links. Our goal is to enable each learner to take meaningful steps toward the world of work with confidence, and a clear sense of purpose. Students complete a personalised study programme working towards a Level 2 Employability Skills Qualification, Maths, English and Wellbeing sessions are also delivered alongside a tailored career programme to support the young person to build their Employability Skills.

Entry requirements & additional information

Aged 16-24 With an Educational Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
For each unit of work the students complete lots of different activities that contribute to their overall assessment - witness statements, photo evidence, activity sheets etc.
Students who have previously completed this course have gone onto: Higher level programmes within Further Education at Myerscough Supported Internship programmes such as DFN Project Search Employment Voluntary Work
