Unforgettable South Africa experiences for Myerscough students
Published: Wednesday 10 September 2025Two groups of Myerscough students have enjoyed unforgettable experiences in South Africa this summer.

Earlier this month, a group of degree level equine studies students enjoyed their experience, in a trip organised in association with Gap Africa Projects.
The trip began with a variety of experiences and activities, including animal tracking, game drives, bush clearing, a tour of the local community, watching the sunset from the aardvark deck, and horse riding on safari.
The group also worked hard to help improve the local community of Boschdraai village, undertaking a variety of tasks, including painting the local community hall, building dog kennels from disused wooden pallets, and making improvements to the welfare of donkeys in the village.
Finally, the group enjoyed a day out to Entabeni Game Reserve for a Big 5 Game Drive.
Students were lucky enough to spot many amazing species, including elephants, giraffes, cheetahs, zebras, and antelope, all whilst taking in some breathtaking views, to complete a great experience and great memories made.
Earlier in the summer, a group of animal studies learners jetted off for their trip of a lifetime, in the department’s usual annual visit to the country, where these amazing enrichment experiences have been flourishing since 2012.
