Thousands of people were welcomed to the College’s main Bilsborrow campus over the weekend to enjoy the hundreds of attractions on offer.

The College's biggest event of the year is well established as one of the best days out in Lancashire's outdoor events calendar, with the crowds turning out in their numbers despite the changeable weather.

An action-packed family fun day out, the event included the usual array of demonstrations, shows and interactive activities from the College’s many diverse subject areas as well as food, drink and entertainment. Prospective students also got the chance to see the beautiful campus at its best and chat with tutors and staff from each area.

Here is just a taste of what we got up to:

The Open Day & Country Fair is a major undertaking for Myerscough and involves months of preparation by staff and students as well as working closely with dozens of partners, third party companies and exhibitors.

Highlights of the day this year included headline performances from the Two Brothers Stunt bicycle team, Steve Colley Stunt Bike Show, the ever popular Sheep Show, Clay Pigeon Shooting, Horse Logging, the National Tree Climbing Competition final, agriculture and equestrian demonstrations, motorsport and machinery displays, agricultural shows and exhibitions, a Sport Zone and children’s activities. The countryside zone and superb landscaped gardens also proved extremely popular.

Visitors also enjoyed tractor and trailer rides, farm tours, and Land Rover off-road driving experiences, while visitors were also able to have a look at the College’s array of new buildings, and much more.

Wes Johnson, Chief Executive and Principal of Myerscough College, said: ‘’A massive thank you to everyone for another magnificent Open Day and Country Fair.

‘’Our staff all worked so hard to ensure the event went ahead despite the challenging weather in the run up to the event. Everybody’s hard work and effort certainly paid off, as the crowds came and had a fantastic day.

‘’Our staff and students were fantastic ambassadors for the College as usual with big beaming smiles and it was great to see our College being showcased to such a high standard.''

‘’Despite thousands of visitors, the campus remained an incredibly clean, safe, happy place to visit. Social media is full of praise for the day with comments about what a great place the college is.

‘’This is what the day is all about. We certainly put ourselves on the map once again not only providing a great day out but an opportunity to showcase our college and our courses.

‘’The whole day was an outstanding celebration of everything Myerscough and all that is best within our sector. We hope everyone had a fabulous time. Our Open Day is a massive event encompassing so many other mini events, multiple activities and demonstrations, the challenge is to get round everything in a day.’’
