Seven students represented foundation learning in the competition, marking a return to playing pan-ability football for Myerscough students for the first time in a number of years.

The students came from both Myerscough’s Entry Level 3 NCFE Sport and Supported Internship programmes, and took on three teams from the North West at the 7-a-side tournament, which was played at Chadderton FC in Oldham, with Oldham College the hosts. Lancaster and Morecambe College and East Lancs Learning Group also competed.

The level of commitment from the players was fantastic, as they gave their all and represented themselves and College in an extremely professional manner, showing a superb work ethic and teamwork to help each other out on the pitch.

The AoC Pan-Ability League is an inclusive sports competition organized by AoC Sport in partnership with English colleges and local community clubs, providing competitive and regular football opportunities for college students with a broad spectrum of disabilities, impairments, or long-term health conditions.

Matches are typically small-sided and use ability banding to ensure fair, competitive matches across different skill levels.

One Myerscough learner, Zack, impressed in each game, going for every ball, and never giving up a lost cause. The referees rewarded his effort with the Player of the Tournament award, beating 35 other players for the award. In particular they praised his commitment and his bravery in tackles.

Myerscough is due to host the next tournament in the series next month.
