Myerscough College sheep return to Flower Bowl grass roof
Published: Friday 23 October 2026A flock of Myerscough College sheep have returned to the roof of a popular local entertainment centre for the first time since the Coronavirus pandemic.
The six sheep can now be seen on the roof of The Flower Bowl Entertainment Centre, near Barton Grange, after returning to the especially created grass roof earlier this month.
Myerscough sheep originally moved onto the roof in 2019, and now a new flock of Dutch Spotted hogs and a tup have returned to the grass roof of the complex, which was created with 700 tonnes of top soil and grass.
The sheep are kept in place on the roof with a five-foot high fence around the perimeter, and they even have their own staircase to come up and down as they please.
A spokesperson for the Flower Bowl said: “We had sheep on the roof here before Covid and they are from Myerscough College which is just down the road and looked after by a local farmer.
“We have six sheep - five females and one male.
“They eat the grass which maintains it, so we don’t have to mow it ourselves.
“Obviously it fits well within the local landscaping that’s why the grass is on this roof just so it does fit in with the rest of the area.
“It’s lovely to see how energetic they are running around. They are obviously loving it up here which the local community will like to see as well.”
