Myerscough apprentice named winner in Grounds Management Association’s Industry Awards

A Myerscough College sportsturf apprentice has been named as a winner in the Grounds Management Association’s (GMA) Industry Awards.

Flynn Good was victorious in the Young Grounds Person of the Year category,  in the prestigious annual awards that shine a spotlight on the individuals, teams and organisations who are raising standards across the sportsturf industry.

Flynn is part of the grounds team Championship club Leicester City, and has recently completed a sector leading Level 2 Sportsturf Operative apprenticeship, with his work based training provided by Myerscough College.

Flynn said: ‘’I’m incredibly honoured to be named Young Grounds Person of the Year.

‘’I’m speechless and so grateful.

‘’This isn’t just my job, it’s my passion and career. I’m proud to be part of such an amazing industry. Thank you to everyone who has supported me.’’

There was further recognition for Myerscough’s apprenticeship programme as fellow learner Adam Hooper, part of the grounds teams at Tottenham Hotspur, was also named as a finalist in the same category, while in the Newcomer of the Year category, Sam Knowles was a finalist. Sam is part of the grounds team at Nottingham Forest.

The finalists were selected following a thorough judging process, undertaken by a panel of sector experts who reviewed entries across sixteen categories.

This recognition is not only a testament to the hard work and talent of our learners but also highlights the exceptional training and support provided by Myerscough College.
