Motorsport students to assist with five cars in Legend Fires North West Stages Rally

Myerscough College & University Centre motorsport students will help to run five cars at next month’s Legend Fires North West Stages.

The event, which takes place over the weekend of March 22/23, is based at Myerscough College’s main Preston campus at Bilsborrow and in the market town of Garstang and has attracted drivers from all over the UK, including a European Rally Champion and three British rally champions.

Students from the Level Two and Three City & Guilds Motorsport courses will service and maintain the feisty Talbot Samba of the college’s own Danny Cowell/Mark Standen. They will also work on the Chrysler Avenger of John Livermore/David Terry and Mitsubishi Lancer of Howard Price/Carl Williamson.

Students studying on the motorsport degree programmes will service similar Subaru Imprezas of local father and son team Steve and Rob Cotton, respectively co-driven by Mick Birchall and Ethan Kidd.

On the Friday of the event,130 cars and their crews will descend on the college which hosts Rally Headquarters and the event’s service area.

Safety checks will take place in Myerscough College Motorsport's new workshop facilities during Friday ahead of the popular ceremonial start in Garstang from 6:30pm.
