So far, degree level Golf Management and Coaching & Performance students have worked at the BMW PGA Championships, Wentworth,  a DP World Tour flagship event; the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, at St. Andrews, Kingsbarns and Carnoustie; and the LIV Golf in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

All of these events have seen the students working 'inside the ropes' supporting the event operations and logistics, such as on-course scoring and technical work for the various Tour's TV partners, enjoying unforgettable and invaluable industry experience.

Rick Daniels, Course Leader in University Centre Myerscough’s golf study programmes, said: ‘’The LIV event in Saudi was the first time we have been approached to assist, and the student group performed so well that we have been asked to support further future events in Saudi next year, including in February at the Aramco Ladies International and March on the LIV Golf Tour.

‘’The LIV event saw the students walk the fairways in 40 degrees heat, working directly with Major Champions including Brooks Koepka, Cameron Smith, Bryson DeChambeau, Dustin Johnson & Phil Mickelson to name but a few.

‘’These events compliment our academic programmes of study perfectly, providing the students with 'behind the scenes' access to the best players in the world, as well as developing their vocational and transferable skills specific to the golf industry, be it event management, golf operations, professional golf practice and much, much more.

Students can now look forward to the rest of the year packed with many further activities to complement their study programmes, designed for them to gain valuable work experience in the golf industry while at the same time getting the chance to get up close and personal with some of the sport’s best players.

In January the students will once again travel to Vilamoura, Portugal for the annual 'Player Development  and Warm Weather Training Camp' for the 20th year in succession.

All of the above opportunities, combined with our in-house playing Tour, the 2K24 Tour sponsored by Callaway Golf Europe, and their main academic programmes of study, ensure that our students receive a holistic golfing experience during their three years spent with us, working towards their BA & BSc (Hons) Degrees.

Rick adds: ‘’For more than twenyty-five years, our management programme has provided a wide view of the golf industry. We try and work at as many key events in the calendar as possible and in the past these have included the Ryder Cup, the Portugal Masters, as well of course as Dunhill and the BMW PGA Championship.

’Students leave Myerscough with a sector-leading qualification and transferrable skills that can be used outside of the golf industry, such as marketing, event management, finance and human resources.’’
