Available course dates are: 5th March 2026 This qualification develops the learner�s knowledge, understanding and skills in delivering first aid in a forestry context as required by the Forestry Commission and will support a role in the workplace. This qualification meets the requirements for Emergency First Aid at Work as outlined in the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982. This qualification will provide learners with the skills, knowledge and understanding to support individuals carrying out a first aid role in a forestry-based workplace. Areas covered are: *Understand the role and responsibilities of a forestry first aider * Able to manage an incident in an outdoor environment *Able to provide first aid to a casualty that is unresponsive and not breathing normally * Able to provide first aid to a casualty that is unresponsive and is breathing normally * Able to provide first aid to a casualty who is choking * Able to provide first aid to a casualty with external bleeding * Know how to provide first aid to a casualty who is in shock *Know how to provide first aid to a casualty who has been bitten or stung *Able to provide first aid to a casualty with anaphylaxis

Entry requirements & additional information

This qualification is aimed at those over 16 who are able to undertake the responsibilities associated with being an emergency first aider. Due to the language of the assessment, it is recommended that learners have sufficient command of the English language in order to understand the assessment and to undertake the recommended assessment methods. Attendees will be required to demonstrate First Aid procedures as they would in a real work environment. This includes providing CPR to a casualty who is on the floor, therefore be physically capable of doing so.
Learners are assessed for this qualification using the following methods: Multiple choice question paper Practical observation
This one day course is valid for three years.
Candidates will need to show a form of photograph ID at the start of the course. This will usually be a photograph driving licence; passport; student or employee ID. If no photo ID is available then two forms of non photo ID can be accepted.
