This one day training programme is free to most Liverpool City Region Residents. Funding eligability of the fee structure is available further down factsheet. Curently available dates are: 22nd September 2025 4th November 2025 This training and assessment programme covers Unit 151 of the Award, Operating Pedestrian Hand Held Applicators Fitted With Hydraulic Nozzles or Rotary Atomisers to Apply Pesticides to Land The assessment is held on a separate day by appointment, usually the same week as the training. Entry requirements & additional information

Candidates must have achieved the L2 Award in the Principles of Safe Handling and Application of Pesticides (PA1). To be able to access the course material, candidates who have not completed the qualifiations within the last 3-5 years, must have evidence of a refersher completed by a reputable trainer. We reccomend refresher training every 3 years to stay abreast of legistartion updates. The course and assessment cover callibration maths so applicants must be confident with basic maths skills. Course Fees / Funding The fees for this course are allocated on a tiered system. We expect the majority of applicants attending at our Liverpool centre and living in Liverpool City Region to meet the tier three requirements and so have nothing to pay. Tier One- Full Cost (£240) Full amount to be billed following the course. Candidates enrolled onto a full-time government funded course such as further education, apprenticeship, specific industry training course or have been enrolled for more than 42 days in the current academic year on one of these courses. Candidates who have not lived in the UK for three years/ None UK citizen (exception for candidates with refugee status) Candidates who have not reached their 19th birthday on or before 31st July of the academic year their course runs in (for example a candidate that has their 19th birthday on 1st August and then completes a course on 30th July the following year, is ineligible for additional funding and so falls into tier one full cost). Already taken and achieved this programme or one very similar with the same awarding body. Living in an area with a metropolitan mayor (with the exception of Liverpool City Region or Greater Manchester) Has already achieved the course with the same awarding body or a very similar course (for example PA6a and PA6aw are viewed as the same programme). Tier Two- Co -Funded Rate (£85) Full amount to be billed following the course. Candidates that meet the residency, age and course requirements (as per tier 3 � details below) but earn over the wage thresholds identified for the tier 3 full funding £25,750 (£35 864.40 for Liverpool City Region) Tier Three- Fully Funded If you meet the following requirements then there will be no fees to pay. Earning less than £25 750 per year (based on past three months of payslips/P60 or verified accounts)/ (£35 864.40 in Liverpool City Region) OR unemployed and completing the course to support paid/ volunteer work. (if you feel you are eligible for a funded course you can contact [email protected] to book without paying the booking fee). Reached 19th birthday on or before 31st July of the academic year their course runs in (for example a candidate that has their 19th birthday on 1st August and then completes a course on 30th July the following year, is ineligible for additional funding and so falls into tier one full cost). UK Citizen / Legal permission to live and work in UK Lived in UK for 3 years Not attending school, college or university, an apprentice or training as part of any full or part time, government funded training programme/ not been enrolled on such a programme during the academic year of the short course. Not in custody as a prisoner or on remand. Has never completed and achieved the same or a very similar qualification with the same exam board. Living in a postcode area that is not covered by a metropolitan mayor (with the exception of Liverpool City Region or Greater Manchester) If applicants hold official refugee status they will receive this course for free.
Assessments are generally a few days after the course (dates will be provided with your joining instructions). Assessments are conducted by an external assessor and cover some theory and callibration work followed by a practical task. Assessments generally last approximmately 1.5 hours.

Candidates are expected to provide their own PPE for both the training and assessments. Sprayers are provided for both the training and assessment NPTC rules require candidates to bring phot ID to both the training and assessment.
