This course aims to give an appreciation of the different welding techniques available, and how to use them safely. Starting with Oxy/fuel welding (gas) moving on to Manual Metal Arc (stick) then progressing to Metal Inert Gas (MIG), also cutting with Oxy/Fuel and plasma is included. By the end of the course, students should be able to weld with some degree of skill in all methods having enough knowledge to identify any faults and repair them with practice. Also the course will provide you with the information necessary to enable you to decide which welding process best suits your needs, or if you already have welding equipment how to use it to your best advantage. Entry requirements & additional information
There are no formal entry requirements. Welding does require a degree of mobility and physcial tasks and so you must be able to complete these aspects of the course.
This is an unaccredited course and so the tutor will informally assess progress thoughout the course.
This course could lead to a full time course or apprenticeship in Agricultural Engineering or MotorSport
Possible progression routes include further courses/ careers in prject welding and fabrication.
