About the course
Supported Internship is one type of study programme specifically aimed at young people who want to move into employment and need extra support. They are intended to enable the young person to become ‘job ready’. Internships normally last for one year and they include one year work placements for at least 6 months. Students complete a personalised Study Programme working towards a qualification usually ‘Employability Skills’. Maths and English are also delivered as an important element.
Entry requirements & additional information
Students need to be 16 – 24 years old and have an Education Health Care Plan.
All units from the main qualification will be assessed using the C&G criteria and they will also be fully internally verified and submitted for external verification where necessary. A work experience diary will record all activities, skills and progress whilst the student is on their placement.
The main intended outcome is Supported Employment, which will be achieved by working in conjunction/partnership with other organisations such as Job Centre Plus (Access To Work), Brothers of Charity, Mencap etc.
Foundation Learning
We provide a range of Foundation Learning full-time and part-time courses for students with additional needs. Our aim is to help students develop a range of important skills - social, academic and vocational - whilst providing the support and encouragement for them to grow in confidence and express their personality.
