About the course

This creative skills suite is suitable as a valid and reliable introduction to the production of floral items. Specialist modules will enable you to apply underpinning design skills in the context of floral design and develop the practical skills and knowledge needed to make a variety of floral designs, using a range of materials and techniques, to a saleable standard. The Award or Certificate in Floristry can help you to gain and develop the skills you need to work as a florist. You will learn plant care, floristry skills and how to create floral decorations for celebrations. An Award or Certificate in Floristry is for anyone interested in working as a florist, from complete beginners, school leavers or mature learners looking for a career change within this creative industry, to those already working within commercial floristry. You have the option to do the Award year 1, then progress to the Certificate or do them as a combined course over 1 year. Expected hours of study per week: Award: 2.5 hours in class, 2.5 independent study a week Including practical assessments and portfolios to complete. This course covers practical skills and relevant background knowledge. Students are aged 16 or over and have a genuine interest in floristry on a commercial basis.
