This NPTC approved training course will introduce candidates to the skills required for accessing a tree using a rope and harness, and being able to carry out aerial rescue operations. In addition, to identify relevant health and safety legislation and industry good practice. The competence assessment taken after the training, is registered with City & Guilds NPTC and successful candidates will be awarded the City & Guilds NPTC Level 2 Award in Tree Climbing and Rescue qualification.

Brief Course syllabus
The following is a guide of what to expect once your training commences.
The training will take part on the college campus
Programme of Training (may be subject to change):
Monday -Legislation, Knots, Equipment Inspection, Rope throwing
Tuesday - Prussiking and change overs
Wednesday- Tree Climbing and Branch Walking
Thursday- Aerial Rescue
Friday - Pole Rescue
Entry requirements & additional information
To do this course you must have a head for heights, and it is important that you have a higher than average level of fitness.
Please note that we will not be able to provide training for anyone who we consider to be unfit for any reason.
Students are expected to provide their own equipment and PPE, they cannot be borrowed for training or assessment � see further information below.
It is advised that students hold a current First Aid certificate before taking this training.
Please allow one full extra day following the course for an external assessment. The available assessment dates are shared with your course joining instructions, they are generally the week following the course.

Safety Helmet - Climbing (HSE Recommended mountaineering style helmet complying with BS EN 12492)
Gloves are recommended, gripper style gloves work well
Chainsaw trousers or work style trousers. Jeans are not recommended
Chainsaw boots (HSE Recommended to EN 381-3) or strong work style boots

Sharp knife
Suitable non snag outdoor clothing including waterproofs, you should be prepared for all weather conditions.
Hi visibility vest (short sleeved is acceptable)
Insect repellent and sun screen dependant on time of year
Additional Information
The above PPE, chainsaw, equipment etc. must be provided by the candidate attending
The instructor reserves the right to withdraw the training to candidates if the PPE or equipment is not in a safe condition
You are welcome to use your own tree climbing equipment; however, it must comply with current industry standards and be covered under a regular LOLER inspection regime. The instructor reserves the right to stop anyone using equipment they consider unfit for use.
