There's plenty on offer for those interested in food and drink. As well as the popular Countryside Food Fayre, offering the finest artisan food and drink from small businesses across the region, we'll have a series of food demonstrations in our Theatre of Food marquee.
We will be joined by:
Rachel Green, an award-winning chef, food writer, food campaigner and TV presenter. She has many strings to her apron, including ambassador roles and recipe development. Rachel is a regular on the food festival circuit; her cookery demonstrations are lively, with plenty of interaction with the audience. As well as being at the Myerscough College Open Day and Country Fair, Rachel will also be appearing at The Ideal Home Show at Olympia in March, The Game Fair, BBC Countryfile Live, East Midlands Food and Drink Festival, West Country Game Fair and other food festivals. Rachel produces regular recipe columns for Lincolnshire publications and her recipes have graced the pages of many a newspaper and magazine. She offers cookery classes and is a judge for a number of awards. Rachel is a farmer’s daughter from Lincolnshire. She has cooked for Her Majesty the Queen and has had a number of TV appearances. Patrick Beaume from The Cartford Inn, a multi award-winning pub, restaurant and boutique hotel located in the heart of rural Lancashire. Originally a 17th century coaching inn, the location, by the River Wyre, boasts enviable views of the surrounding countryside, looking across to the quietly beautiful Bowland fells. Anthony and John Gornall from Honeywell Meats, a family-owned butchers based in Preston which prides itself on supporting the local farming community and selling the finest selection of local produce direct from hand-picked suppliers. They rear and source locally farmed meat for their farm shop in Woodplumpton and for their traditional butchery in the Barton Grange Garden Centre Farm Shop at Brock and the Food Hall at Bents Garden and Home, Warrington. Richard Holden from Richard Holden BBQ Ltd. After graduating from Tante Marie Culinary Academy in April 2012, Richard worked for one of London’s premier catering companies before spending three years with Weber, the UK’s Number One BBQ Business. It was at Weber that Richard discovered his passion for teaching, touring the UK demonstrating the ‘lid down’ cooking method to thousands of people and introducing them to the unlimited range of dishes that can be cooked up on a barbecue. Richard has since led barbecuing demos at some of the UK’s top foodie events, including Grillstock, CarFest and Jamie Oliver’s Big Feastival. It was Richard’s overflowing passion for barbecued British food and teaching others how easy it is to cook it, that led him to launch Richard Holden BBQ in 2015: a cookery school which passes on the skills and passion needed to cook up a world-class barbecue. Richard will be demonstrating his barbecuing skills aiming to educate and inspire you to get creative with food and give barbecuing a go. As well as all that, across the campus there will be various food and drink outlets where you can grab a snack, full meal and drink and sit and watch some of the entertainment on offer or indulge yourself with an ice cream from one of the ice cream vans. Don’t forget our on‑site bar, The Stumble Inn, will be open throughout the day serving a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and refreshments.
