The matches consisted of two friendlies against local teams, two games within the tournament against local teams and two games against the Malta national squad.

The group first played at the Kirkop Sports Centre in two friendly games against local Maltese teams before Myerscough Netball took part in tournament competition, coming from behind to win both of their games and become the Malta Netball Tournament Champions 2016.

Later in the trip the group enjoyed a final set of netball fixtures against the Maltese National squad, before visiting Mdina, St.Julians and Valetta to enjoy some of the sights of the spectacular medieval town, glass blowing and the capital.

Charlie White, Myerscough Netball member, said: “I thoroughly enjoyed the trip and we now feel like more of a team than ever having enjoyed the challenge and experience of competing against a national squad.

‘’It was an added bonus to take home the trophy as champions of the tournament and we look forward to using this experience to develop us further as players.’’

Charlotte Davies, Myerscough Ladies Netball Vice-Captain & Stand in Captain for the Malta trip, said: “It was a great experience to play against Malta’s national squad and a huge opportunity for all the girls that went.

‘’I was very proud to be captain of such a great group of girls that put their all into the matches we played.’’

Joanne Chadwick, Myerscough Netball Coach, added: “I am extremely proud of the girls for their effort, team-work and determination to play netball to such a high standard in harsh conditions, against tough opposition and becoming the champions.’’
