The day was a charity event organised by former Myerscough student, and now internet sensation, Rick Shiels, and raised money for Prostate Cancer UK, as he welcomed 44 of golf’s most popular content creators to Formby Hall, raising around £15,000 for the charity.

The day was able to run smoothly with the operational support of twenty golf management degree students from Myerscough, overseen by the College’s Programme Leader for Golf, Rick Daniels.

Rick said: ‘’Our students were fantastic and took advantage of some networking opportunities with some of golf’s biggest social media creators and Tour players.

‘’Well done to alumni Rick Shiels for organising an amazing event and raising money towards Prostate Cancer UK.

‘’I’m delighted to see him doing so well.

‘’His success is a fantastic example of what can be achieved through hard work, and demonstrates that within the industry there are a number of career pathways available to students, other than simply playing.’’

Over the last few years Rick has become the world’s most watched online golf personality, and the day saw online golf content creators such as Peter Finch, Me & My Golf, Erik Anders Lang and What’s Inside, who have 6.5 million subscribers, play alongside celebrity and golfing stars such as Carly Booth, Gary Beadle and Brian McFadden.

The event was also supported by a number of sponsors, including global golf marketing agency, Performance54, host venue Formby Hall Golf Resort and Spa, and Prostate Cancer UK. Meanwhile a number of golf’s leading brands partnered with the event, offering a number of prizes and challenges for golfers to take part in on the day.

Rick Shiels said: ‘’A huge thanks to the great team from Myerscough. The guys really helped the day to run smoothly!

“To be able to bring this event to life has been fantastic. Seeing everyone gather at Formby Hall was quite surreal, the support that I’ve had from everyone has been fantastic, and to get so many brands on board supporting such a great cause is brilliant. The generosity they have shown is overwhelming.”

“Along with my manager Guy and the Performance54 team, we’ve worked tirelessly to bring this event to life - none of this would have been possible without their support. To be able to raise awareness and money for Prostate Cancer UK has been amazing, the team are so passionate about what they do, and it was never in doubt who I wanted to do this for. Hopefully, this is just the first event of many.”
