The award from the LCCC Foundation, which is the charitable and community arm of the club, will support Myerscough in their 2016 fixture programme. The College’s T20 playing shirts have the LCCC Foundation logo across the front of them and the students will be playing their T20 fixtures in them during the season.

Dan Atkinson, Cricket Studies Programme Leader at Emirates Old Trafford, said: ‘’Obviously this is a kind donation and will enable the college to play more prestigious fixtures more often than ever before.

’We thank them for their generosity in supporting the College’s ongoing cricket initiatives.

‘’The money means we can play far more fixtures, far more often, against better opposition, so it will significantly increase our package to both current and future students. It will mean that we can travel further afield. In total we already have 23 fixtures this summer and the growth in popularity of the course means we can now field two sides.

‘’Thanks to the LCCC Foundation we have a great summer of cricket lined up.’’
