The College's biggest event of the year is now well established as one of the best days out in Lancashire's outdoor events calendar. The crowds were out in force at the Bilsborrow campus to enjoy an action-packed family fun day out, including the usual array of demonstrations, shows and interactive activities from the College’s many diverse subject areas as well as food, drink and entertainment. Prospective students also got the chance to see the beautiful campus at its best and chat with tutors and staff from each area.

The event is a major undertaking for the College and involves months of preparation by staff and students as well as working closely with dozens of partners, third party companies and exhibitors. Highlights of the day this year included the 3SIXTY bike stunt team, the ever popular Sheep Show, Food & Drink Fayre, equestrian shows and demonstrations, motorsport and machinery displays, the agricultural shows and falconry demonstrations, photography and floral exhibitions, sports tournaments and children’s activities. The agriculture and countryside zones and superb landscaped gardens also proved extremely popular by attracting many visitors.

The Lakeland Gundog ‘have-a-go’ scurry proved a hit, as did a giant Children's Inflatable Playground. Visitors also enjoyed tractor and trailer rides, farm tours, off-road driving experiences, while there were demonstrations in a ‘Theatre of Food’ marquee from River Cottage’s Tim Maddams, the Cartford Inn and Honeywells Meats.

Visitors were also able to have a look at the College’s array of new buildings, and enjoy other ‘have-a-go’ activities, including landscaping, button hole making and cup cake decorating. Myerscough’s arboriculture team undertook a sponsored tree climb to raise money for Macmillan.

Ann Turner, Chief Executive and Principal of Myerscough College, said: "The Open Day and Country Fair this year was another fantastic day with all the feedback we have had being extremely positive. It's always great to see happy smiling faces everywhere all over campus.''

’The whole day was, yet again, an outstanding celebration of everything Myerscough and all that is best within our sector. We hope everyone had a fabulous time and we look forward to welcoming everyone back again next year. Direct feedback from visitors and via social media has shown that visitors and exhibitors alike thoroughly enjoyed the event.’’

''It really was a tremendous event, and the campus looked great. The over-riding comment from the public was the atmosphere created and generated by the staff and students of Myerscough which made the whole place buzz. To anyone who did not attend, you missed out! Our Open Day is now a massive event encompassing so many other mini events, multiple activities and demonstrations, the challenge is to get round everything in a day.’’

''The event is orchestrated by a small team of staff members but played out by so many on the day. To everyone who took part in whatever way, a huge thank you.''
