Veterinary Nursing HE Placement Support

Advice When Looking for a Placement!

I understand that finding a placement can be very stressful and daunting for a lot of students, so I have put together a few points to help you in your search.

Download the RCVS list of Training Practices for your area https://www.rcvs.org.uk/lifelong-learning/students/veterinary-nursing-students/approved-training-practices/ NB the listed practice does NOT have to say Myerscough School of Veterinary Nursing next to it. You can approach any practice on the list.

Highlight the practices that are within travelling distance ( I would recommend that travel is kept to less than an hour each way)

Wherever possible, call into the practice to enquire about a placement. Ask to speak to the Practice Manger or Head Nurse.

Take a CV and a copy of the block dates for the course.

Explain that you will be starting on the FdSc Veterinary Nursing Course in September and that you are looking for an unpaid placement (show them the dates from the block dates).

Explain that you will be completing the Nursing Progress Log (NPL) whilst on placement and will therefore require a Clinical Coach.

Finally, please do not hesitate to contact me or give out my details (see below) if you need help or the practice require further information.

Good Luck!
