14-16 Joining Instructions 2017

Dear Applicants!

We hope you are looking forward to your time at Myerscough. All courses start on the week beginning Monday 11 September 2017. Academic Calendars and Equipment Lists can now be found on the My Myerscough section of the Myerscough College website www.myerscough.ac.uk under My Application. These lists will link to the Myerscough clothing shop should you wish to purchase Myerscough branded clothing. Please note that branded clothing is not compulsory. Additional copies of this letter are also available online.

Please can all new students or returning students taking up new programmes refer to the table overleaf for exact start dates, meeting points, course times and tutors. If you have offers for more than one day please ensure you check the table for each of your courses. All courses will follow the centre column of the academic calendar marked FE Full Time 14‑16 Foundation Learning and English/Maths with the exception of the Wednesday Preston and Thursdays Croxteth students who will follow the third column. Please note that buses only run on the term dates for the centre column, Wednesday students will need to make alternative arrangements where their term is longer than the Further Education One. The Number 80 bus from Preston bus station runs into campus all year.

* Please can all Foundation Learning Students go straight to the Foundation Learning Office and ask for their tutor or Barry Sherriff (Head of Foundation Learning). The Foundation Learning building can be accessed by entering the College campus through the second entrance from direction for the A6 (excluding the residential entrance) signed to ‘Plant World’. On entering the campus, continue straight on with Fledglings Nursery and Plant World to your left and the bus stop to your right. The next building on the left beyond the small car park is the General Education and Foundation Learning Building. The entrance to the Foundation Learning Building is on the far side facing the Engineering building.

** Please note that later in the term the Functional Skills sessions will sometimes go on until 4pm to accommodate sessions on topics such as e safety, team working, CV building, British Values etc. You will be informed about these sessions via parent and student email beforehand. Parents/Carers may request that students opt out of session that they do not feel comfortable with due to their social, emotional or educational history but in the main we do feel all sessions will benefit all students.
