Woodworking Skills for Improvers - Day

About the course

Designed as a follow on from the basic skills level this fascinating course gives you the chance to improve your hand at working with wood. With expert guidance, you are again introduced to the variety of techniques and equipment enabling you to gain and improve new skills, to produce some useful and attractive final pieces.

As well as making some useful items you will also make your own range of fundamental wood working tools such as a bench hook, marking gauge, mitre box and chuting board

The course aims to cover:

  • Use of tenon and coping saws
  • Correct use of hand, bench and block planes
  • Variation of joints - dowel, mortise & tenon, lap and dovetails

Using a variety of joints, go on to make a small box or enjoy making a selection of items as seen on www.pennyproductions.co.uk from a delightful rural workshop on the edge of the Trough of Bowland.

Special Requirements

All tools, equipment and materials are provided and included in the cost of the course.

It is strongly advised to wear stout foot wear and non-loose clothing.
