Wood Turning - Pen Turning Course

About the course

This novices’ level course in woodturning has been developed for students with little experience to produce an olive wood pen.

Students must have done the Taster Course or have their own lathe and be familiar with it’s operation before attending this course.

Candidates will be instructed and shown how to safely operate the lathe with the aim of producing

a pen from olive wood. This will include use of an end mill and pen press. At the end of the course,

students should have gained sufficient knowledge to competently and safely produce pens for their

own use or for resale as required.

All the project pieces made can be taken home at the end of the day with no additional charge.

(Please note this course is NOT held at the Myerscough College, Bilsborrow campus)

Items listed may be altered without notice depending on availability of materials.

All tools, materials and tuition will be provided by Wooden Stuff Ltd. at their specialist training workshop in Lytham. The material costs are included within the course fee.

Students are expected to wear suitable clothing (not loose fitting) or a specialist apron, suitable footwear (not canvas or open-toed). Loose fitting jewellery to be removed. Long hair should be tied back.

Food is not provided - please bring a packed lunch if required, or there is a McDonalds and Lidl store within walking distance of the venue. Coffee, tea and water will be provided.
