NCFE Level One Award / Certificate in Photography (14-16 Programme)

About the course

This new qualification is practical in its nature, exploring both photography and creative projects, capture and digital manipulation. Photography elements will include how to use a camera effectively, and how to exhibit your work using different media techniques. Students will complete the Award qualification in year one and the Certificate qualification in year two.

Introduction to capturing and producing images of people

Both studio and location work.

Introduction to capturing and producing close-up images

Using macro lenses, extension tubes etc. to produce creative images.

Introduction to capturing and producing abstract images

Using a variety of equipment to capture creative images , includes studio and location work.

Entry requirements & additional information

Entry requirements

This course delivers practical skills and covers relevant background knowledge. Students need to be 14 or over, have an interest in the area of photography or creative design and have functional English and Maths skills.

Learning and assessment

The course is assessed in a variety of ways including written assignments and practical assessment.

Progression

Students who successfully complete the course may wish to study full time at Myerscough or at another college.

Special requirements

Specialist Clothing and Equipment: Warm outdoor clothing (waterproof jacket and suitable footwear) as some of the photography is undertaken on location. Own camera would be a benefit but not essential.
