Introduction:

This course provides an introduction to pruning – the reasons why, different pruning cuts and when to prune different species.

Practical demonstration and discussion:

  • Formative and routine pruning techniques

  • Pruning for flowers, fruit, winter stems etc.

  • Pruning cuts and the equipment required

How long will I be learning?

Although this course only lasts for one day, this is only the start and you’ll carry on learning as you put your new skills into practice.

What equipment will I need?

All equipment is provided, but you will need to wear sensible footwear and outdoor clothing.

How will I know if I am making progress?

Demonstration of new skills and an understanding of pruning operations.

What course work will I be expected to complete?

Engage and contribute in discussions.

What can I expect to learn from this course?

To become a confident pruner.
