About the course

Brief Description of the Course:

One of the great things about Business Administration and Customer Service Skills is that you can work almost anywhere with the skills that you will learn. Administration roles are also an excellent starting point to progress into management once you learn more about the business. 97% of employers say that effective administration is essential to their business!

This course is designed to give applicants the skills and qualifications they require to work in business admin and customer support roles across any industry.

Much of the learning on this programme is done remotely either through live lessons or use of virtual learning platforms. It is therefore important you have access to the internet and an appropriate device to work from (phones are not suitable). If you think you may be eligible for full funding and are concerned about your access to a suitable device, please contact the College to discuss your requirements. You must be able to travel into the College for a small number of face-to-face sessions and a course induction.

Course Hours:

As a large part of this programme is on demand self-study, applicants can decide on a work schedule that meets their needs. The full course hours work out at just below 15 hours per week. This means it will not interfere with any job seekers allowance.

Course Fees and Financial Support:

Unemployed or low wage applicants may be eligible for full funding for this course. Funding eligibility can be established through submission of this form alongside the online application form.

You may be eligible if:

· You were 19 or above on 31st Aug 2020

· You are legally entitled to live, study and work in the UK

· You earn less than £17,004.00 annual gross salary or are unemployed.

Course fees are £ 527 if learners are not eligible for full funding.

Where severe financial hardship is a direct result of studying through the College there may be some financial support available. Please email if you feel you may be eligible.

Entry Requirements:

As some elements of this course are at level 2 learners should have a minimum of a full level one programme or GCSE’s at grade D-G /1-3). An initial assessment plus evidence presented at application will be used to ensure appropriate on programme support is provided.

Course Units:

The course is made up of three separate course elements plus optional work experience.

NCFE Level Two Certificate in Principles of Business Administration or NCFE Level Two Certificate in Principles of Customer Service

This programme is delivered and assessed through a virtual learning platform. Units have set deadlines but learners can work through them at their own pace with all learning and assessment material available online. Students will have access to a specialist tutor to provide explanation or feedback when needed. Please follow the title link to the individual course factsheet.

NOCN Level One Award in Safeguarding

The qualification will provide learners with a basic understanding of key legislation, policies and procedures in relation to safeguarding and the Prevent Duty. Learners will also understand their own role and that of their organisation in relation to safeguarding. This qualification will be very valuable when applying for roles in care or education settings.

NCFE Level One Communicating and Collaborating Online

As many workplaces move more and more into digital work, training and communication and a clear understanding of how to communicate appropriately and safely online is essential. This unit is about ensuring that learners know about a variety of methods available to communicate online. This can include email, instant messaging, online feedback sites, video messaging, and forums. The content includes communication in both formal and informal settings and information directly relating to a career in support such as identification and action against cyber bullying and trolling.

You will also have the opportunity to access our wide range of careers resources and receive specialist help and advice on CV building, submitted applications and general employability skills.

Learning and Assessment:

Assessment will be through a mixture of online assessment and the production of assessment material.

Work Experience:

There is the opportunity to complete 1 day work placement at the College in Myerscough's Business Administration / Customer Services Team for interested learners. This will be available on request once the qualifications are achieved or largely completed.


All learners who successfully achieve the programme in the designated timeframes will be given a guaranteed interview for any Myerscough business administration or customer services job advertised in the 3 months following course completion (subject to appropriate DBS checks).
