About the course

This is a broad based study programme that provides you with a comprehensive introduction to sport and football studies. It is extremely popular with school leavers who wish to combine a practical based training programme with sound theoretical knowledge. The programme is designed to give you a broad understanding of football, with a view to progressing to one of our Level 3 Diploma courses, or to start work in the sports industry.

Entry requirements & additional information

Entry requirements

You will need a minimum of 2 GCSEs at Grade D or above to include English Language or equivalent qualifications.

Learning and assessment

Study will be based in the classroom learning the theories relating to sports and football, as well as out on the football pitch for practical sessions. There are no formal examinations on this programme and you will be assessed through assignments and practical work.


The vast majority of students usually progress onto the Level 3 BTEC Diploma courses if they gain sufficient merits on the Level 2 Diploma.
