City and Guilds Level 2 Award/Certificate Floristry

About the course

This course runs on Tuesdays 6-9pm and Wednesdays 11am-1pm.

Myerscough College can offer you the opportunity to train at the best floristry College in the North West, our facilities are excellent with dedicated floristry workshops, classrooms and cold stores. You will work with the award winning Myerscough staff, developing a wide range of creative floristry skills.

The qualification is designed for learners looking for a career in the floristry industry or further developing creative skills and qualifications in this vocational area. It is based on the National Occupational Standards for floristry, and is an alternative for those candidates who do not have access to work-based qualifications

Plan, prepare and construct tied floristry designs

Plan, prepare and construct floral arrangements

Year 2

Introduction to art and design for florists

Plan, prepare and construct funeral designs

Plan, prepare and construct wedding designs with floral material

Entry requirements

This course covers practical skills and relevant background knowledge.

If under 18 years of age at commencement of the course, you are required to have GCSE English Language, and Mathematics at Grade C or above.

This course is delivered via a part time mode of study and does not meet the Government criteria of post compulsory education.

For 19+ there are no formal entry requirements necessary, all that you need is a passion and creative flare for working with plant material and flowers, to learn new skills to develop yourself.

Learning and assessment

The learning will be undertaken through lectures, practical demonstrations and workshop. There is one assignment per unit which are designed to sample the practical skills and underpinning knowledge.


There is scope to progress onto our Level 2 Diploma or Level 3 in Floristry Study Programme.


These qualifications are designed for candidates who:

¨ Wish for career progression into or within the sector

¨ Do not have access to work-based qualifications

¨ Wish to develop Creative floristry skills

¨ Are looking for progression towards further or higher education.

Special requirements

Costs that are mandatory for the course:

¨ Stationery e.g. presentation files, etc. approx. £15

¨ Plant materials – flowers & foliage to create advanced designs approx. £15 per week

¨ Floristry tool box, to include a range of tools and ancillary items approx £100

¨ Protective apron approx £20
