Trailer/Caravan Manoeuvring

About the course

This course is designed for the car and trailer driver who needs to acquire further legal knowledge and skills of driving with a trailer. Ideally for experienced car drivers, this programme covers visual checks on the vehicle and trailer as well as driving position and mirrors adjustment. With no 'on road' driving involved the training is designed to help with those awkward manoeuvres in awkward places!

Specific manoeuvres include:

· Coupling and uncoupling

· Forward driving and positioning

· Straight line reversing using mirrors

· Curved/Corner reverses

· Defined space parking

The course layout may be suited to 2 candidates being able to use one vehicle and trailer as some of the practical work is carried out in small groups.

All of the above are carried out in the open spaces of the College car parks.

When arriving on campus with your vehicle and trailer, please follow the signs for the International Arena and park on the large gravel car parking area. From there make you way on foot to the Main Reception to meet the tutor.

Additional Information

Candidates must hold a current driving licence and are expected to bring their own towing vehicle and trailer covered by a valid insurance policy.

This is not the training required to take the candidate to the level of the B+E Car and Trailer test, although it would offer some very good instruction to the 'off road' exercises required within the DSA test. Training requirements for the B+E are best covered by the specific B+E Training course, see fact sheet 'Driving Licence Category: B + E (Car and Trailer)'. http://www.myerscough.ac.uk/?page=course-search&action=factsheet&reference=2011330&query=&html-title=Driving
