Machine Sewing - Taster Evening

About the course

Have you inherited or been given a sewing machine and would love to try your hand at sewing? Then this course is for you.

For the first half hour you will be shown how to set up your machine ready for sewing, for the remainder of the course you will make a simple shopping bag with a front pocket.

Sewing machine and instruction manual

Dressmaking scissors

1m of heavy duty fabric or look for an old curtain in a charity shop Or 60cm (3/4yd ) of main fabric + 30cm (3/8yd) of contrasting fabric for pocket

Matching thread

Dressmakers pattern paper to make template (burda)

1.5m of 18mm (3/4 “) bias binding to neaten seams
