About the course

This is an additional year allowing those that have already achieved the Level 2 qualification, advancement onto a supervisory level qualification with 5 x 2 weeks of block training in college.

This Apprenticeship is ideally suited to those people who wish to pursue a career in an engineering discipline within a plant or plant hire company. It is a varied qualification that can cover roles across a wide range of job types.Apprentices can be working within Heavy Plant and Crane, Small Plant, Lifting and Platforms, and Small Tool and Hire type companies.In this role you could be working on a construction site or in a workshop setting repairing and servicing vehicles/machines for various construction operations.A challenging and rewarding career working in all weathers! Entry requirements & additional information

Entry requirements

To be eligible to undertake an apprenticeship a candidate must:

  • Be aged 16 or over & have officially left school
  • The recommended entry qualifications are 4 GCSEs at grade A-C (9-4). All potential apprentices will be required to complete a pre-course assessment to determine their suitability & achievement potential.
  • NOT have achieved any qualification at the same or a higher level, in the same subject that is being undertaken.
  • Be employed (NOT self employed) in the relevant occupational sector working at least 30 hours per week.
  • Must have the right to work in England & spend at least 50% of their working hours in England over the duration of the apprenticeship.
  • Must be a citizen of a country with in the European Economic Area (EEA) or have the right of abode in the UK AND have been ordinarily resident in the EEA for at least the previous 3 years on the first day of learning.
  • The entry requirements for an Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3), isn't solely based on academic ability. More importantly it relates to the job description you have. In order to gain the portfolio evidence for Level 3 you need to have supervisory responsibilities.

Learning and assessment

Theory work & learning materials delivered online with photographic, video & audio evidence being collected through the Onefile E-Portfolio platform, supported by off site technical training at Myerscough College as required.

The employer will have access to their apprentices Onefile E-Portfolio so they can monitor progress & work that has been set by the tutor.

The qualification is made up of a number of mandatory units designed to have maximum relevance to the job & integrate with day to day responsibilities.

An employer must allow an apprentice 20% of their working week to undertake work required to complete their apprenticeship (this is a legal requirement) & will include any college attendance required.

Progression

Apprentices successfully completing the Level 3 Apprenticeship have opportunities to progress within the industry by continuing onto Higher Education courses or full time employment.

Careers

Typical jobs apprentices will be able to progress onto on completion of this Apprenticeship will depend on the qualifications and experience gained, but could include opportunities to progress into occupational work supervision, management or technical support areas.
