About the course
Unit 201 – Carry out Maintenance of Chainsaw and Cutting System
Unit 202 – Crosscut Timber Using a Chainsaw
This training course will cover modules required for the safe operation of a chainsaw on the ground, including working safely, maintenance of the chainsaw and cutting system, operational chainsaw checks, legislation and industry good practice and cross-cutting timber with a chainsaw All PPE and chainsaw must be provided by the person attending.

Compulsory Equipment Required for "Use of Chainsaw" Courses
Helmet (Groundwork EN 397) with ear defenders and mesh visor ( complying with EN1731) (not exceeding 3 years old) If you are considering progressing on to the tree climbing unit CS38 then a climbing helmet ( EN 12492) is recommended with ear defenders and visor
Chainsaw protective gloves* complying with EN 381-7
Chainsaw Trousers* – Type A (Minimum ) Type B (Preferred) for Ground Units only or Type C to include Tree climbing Work ( Chaps are not acceptable)
Chainsaw Boots* complying with EN345-2 (spats are not acceptable)
* These items should carry the CE chainsaw logo
Chainsaw - Max 15inch guide bar length with sufficient fuel and chain oil Personal First Aid Kit (containing a large wound dressing)
Whistle
Suitable non snag outdoor clothing including waterproofs, you should be prepared for all weather conditions.
General chainsaw maintenance equipment, including a chain filing kit etc.
Hi visibility vest, short sleeved is fine.

Assessment
Assessments will be arranged to take place after training has been completed (usually the following week). You will be given the date and time during the training
