Machine Sewing - Intermediate Course

This 4 Week course has been designed for students already having some knowledge of sewing or for those who have completed the beginners course.

Completion of beginners level course

How long is the course?

4 Weeks

What will the course involve?

Week 1 – Techniques for following a simple paper pattern: laying it out on fabric, transferring markings to fabric. Darts and gathers.

Week 2 – Cutting out your pattern pieces. Initial construction of the garment including facings, interfacings etc.

Week 3 – Completion of your garment

Week 4 – Finishing touches (if carried over from week 3). Creating heavy duty quilted cotton fabric and making an oven/barbecue glove (or a pair if time allows)

8 hours

What equipment will I need?

Students will be expected to bring their own electric sewing machine. A list of materials will be sent out prior to attending the course.

What course work will I be expected to complete?

Some preparation and completion work will be undertaken at home.
