Machine Sewing - Intermediate Course

About the course

This 4-week course has been specifically designed for candidates already having some basic knowledge of machine sewing, or for those who have completed our beginner’s level course. Delivered at an intermediate level, for students to enhance their experience and improve confidence with a range of techniques and skills when completing the more complicated sewing projects.

This course covers:

  • Week 1 – A big weekend bag
  • Week 2 – Oven gloves
  • Week 3 – Pyjama trousers with pockets
  • Week 4 – An introduction to patch working – a cushion.

During these sessions, you will learn:

  • Adding a lining
  • Applying interfacing
  • Creating a gusset
  • Securing a strap
  • Working with wadding
  • Quilting
  • Developing dressmaking skills
  • Inserting a pocket
  • An introduction to patch-working

Special Requirements

Additional Equipment - Students will be expected to bring their own electric sewing machine

Material and thread – a list will be included in your instructions sent out prior to attending and subsequent lists will be handed out each week

Please feel free to bring your own camera along to take photographs of the tutor demonstrations and your own handy work on the day!
