Beginners Poultry Keeping

About the course

A course designed to give anyone who is thinking of keeping poultry on a small scale or for a hobby giving you the basics of what to do and not what to do! Delivered at the Colleges 'Animal Academy' by an experienced and highly regarded tutor. It will aim to enlighten you on all the equipment and requirements needed to set up or gain further experience if you already keep poultry.

The subject areas covered are:

  • Hens Housing
  • Feeding
  • Choosing breeds and varieties
  • Settling hens
  • Common ailments and cures

The course is delivered in a very relaxed manner with plenty of opportunity to ask questions and group discussion. Candidates are encouraged to take part with the handling of the birds whenever possible.

If you care about animals and have a deep interest in their health and wellbeing, Myerscough provides an excellent opportunity for you to further your studies. You'll develop a range of skills and have the opportunity to care for a range of animals including dogs, cats, rabbits and ferrets, farm animals, reptiles and amphibians and a range of invertebrates.
