About the course
This 2 week evening course has been designed for those who wish to be able to support those dealing with the loss of a beloved pet, such as animal welfare charities, veterinary surgeries etc.
The aim of the course is to review and reflect upon the attitudes and reactions of people before and after the death.
Participants of this course will gain an understanding of pet loss and the common grief reactions at different ages including,
- The attitudes of others
- Children & pet loss
- Pets & the elderly
- Loss of the family pet
You will learn interface skills on how to support others with practical tips for listening.
Learning about pet bereavement and other animals, i.e. How to assist other animals which may pine
The practical elements of Pet Loss will also be covered, such as what to do with a pet's remains & belongings, rituals, goodbyes, ceremonies and mementos.
The course will be delivered as a mix of group discussions, presentations and other classroom based activities.
