City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate of Technical Competence in Dog Walking - Liverpool

About the course

If you are looking to take the first step towards a career within the animal care industry, then this is the perfect qualification for you.

Entry requirements

Applicants must be aged 19 or over and have an interest in working in the animal care industry, especially dog walking and ‘doggy day care’.

How long is the course?

3 weeks (1 day per week)

What will the course involve?

You will gain the practical skills and knowledge needed for working as a competent dog walker.

Mandatory content covers:

- Roles and responsibilities of a professional dog walker

- Legislation and codes of practice

- Breeds and behaviours

- Walking and controlling a dog

- Problems, injuries and emergencies

What equipment will I need?

• Writing paper and a pen

• Suitable clothing and non-slip footwear.

All other equipment will be provided.

Dogs will be provided so please do not bring one with you!

How will I know if I am making progress?

Through feedback and assessment.

How will I be assessed?

One to one practical assessment and oral questioning
