An exciting opportunity to join the Apprenticeship and Skills department has arisen. The post of Work Based Tutor in Agriculture has become available due to the current post holder taking up another position within the College.

This is an opportunity to work with employers and apprentices, currently delivering the Stockperson Standard through workplace visits and classroom based theory lessons. The role involves daily management of a caseload of apprentices, engaging new employers and apprentices and ensuring that apprentices are ready for assessment at the end of their qualification.

It is essential you hold a minimum of a Level 3 qualification in Agriculture, with knowledge of Beef, Sheep, Dairy and Pig husbandry, GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths at grade C or above, along with a full Assessors Award plus a Level 3 Teaching qualification or be willing to achieve these qualifications within an agreed time scale.

In addition, you must have sound industrial experience with a passion to imparting this knowledge on to new apprentices in the workplace, along with strong administration and organisational skills and high levels of attention to detail.

This role will ideally suit someone with existing educational experience or someone looking for a career change. Full training and support will be given by the college including a mentor.

Non-teacher qualified applicants may be able to access an enhanced support package through the Taking Teaching Further scheme which includes a reduced timetable, work shadowing/ mentoring, and support with the costs of the teaching qualification.
