MIS and IT Support Technician

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the IT and MIS Team as MIS and IT Support Technician.

This is a hybrid role that will contribute to both supporting the College’s management information systems and the IT estate supporting the fleet of end user devices and computer equipment used in the classroom.

In the IT function you will assist in the installation of PCs, software and peripherals over all of the college estate and take an active role in maintaining and supporting all AVA equipment. You will assist in the operation of the IT service desk on a rota basis. You will act as primary support for all staff and student queries; aiming for a first time fix or escalating and assigning to the most appropriate team. You will support and maintain computers, software, telecoms kit, network peripherals, MFDs, printers and the technology deployed in learning areas. Occasional travel to the College sites in Liverpool, Warrington, Blackburn and Manchester will be required. Travel to the other centres will be in work time and in a College vehicle.

The MIS part of the role will be to respond to MIS service desk requests, diagnose issues relating to the use of College software and applications. You will escalate to more senior colleagues where appropriate. In the medium term this function will be encouraged to take on software development skills to be able to create scripts to fulfil ad hoc requests and to take on small software developments.

The successful candidate will have experience in the maintenance of the components that comprise modern end user devices PCs, Laptops, Tablets and Mobile Devices. You will have a computing / customer service environment with knowledge / experience of using standard Microsoft 365 packages (Outlook/ Excel/ Word/ SharePoint/Teams) and app distribution systems. The salary range is £18,758 - £26,674 per annum, relating to qualifications and experience.
