Herdsperson - based at Myerscough Farms - Preston Campus (1)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Myerscough Farms Team as a Herdsperson.

As a Herdsperson you will have day to day responsibility for managing a 10,000L intensive herd of 200 Holstein-Friesian cows. Working as part of a team across our 300ha mixed farming estate including dairy, beef, sheep, arable and teaching operations.

The successful candidate will have an appropriate qualification in agriculture minimum Level 3 or evidence of suitable practical experience of milking cows in a well-run similar sized herd, experience of using and maintaining appropriate tractors/farm equipment. (including livestock equipment), evidence of cattle work and ability to milk, an ability to maintain a well prepared, realistic and safe working environment and develop the professional attitude of the students towards their work and provide an opportunity for them to practice and develop their skills alongside GCSE (or equivalent) at Grade C/4 or above in English.
