Chef – based at Preston (1)
Myerscough College are currently recruiting for a Chef that is passionate about producing fresh locally-sourced food and committed to delivering a high standard of service at all times.
Working alongside other talented Chefs you will be responsible for the day to day production and service of food. You will mainly be working within our state-of-the-art two-million-pound restaurant and kitchen, catering for - residents, students, staff, and visitors of the College. In addition, you will get the opportunity to demonstrate your flair by catering for VIP Diners, BBQ nights, themed menu events, the College Country Fair, the College Christmas dinner, and various conference events.
The catering team produce 95% of our menus, using fresh locally-sourced produce from award winning suppliers which are predominantly based within the north-west. Our butcher is located ¼ mile away from the College and has been awarded by Butchers Q Guild, which is an industry recognised seal of their quality and excellence.
The successful candidate must have a basic Food & Hygiene Certificate and will ideally have experience working in a similar kitchen role. In short, we are looking for a competent and efficient Chef that has a passion for food. If this sounds like you, then we would love to hear from you.
Work-life balance is important here at the Myerscough College. You will be required to work five days in seven with eight-hour straight shifts. Hours will be assigned on a rota basis between the hours of 7am – 7pm. You will be expected to work two in four weekends. Apart from a couple of occasional events over Christmas, the College usually closes for two weeks over the festive period with no requirement for you to work during this period.
The salary banding is £18,015 to £19,240, relating to qualifications and experience. In addition, there is an enhanced rate of pay for work at the weekends. You will also be eligible to join the Local Government Pension Scheme (more details included in the Job Specification).
